"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."

A Splendid Sunset

Home from a long day running errands.....I saw the most beautiful sunset.... definitely the "Violet Hour".

It was a gorgeous Spring-like day....in the 60's.  I think the Groundhogs only got it right for the West Coast.... but I hope those of my dear friends in colder climes will enjoy this.

Love,

  1. I am always so glad when i (finally) remember to pop by to visit you here Robin. I really wish i could figure out how to get prompts when you write a new post. Anywa I was over at Allegra's and seeing you there reminded me to come here!

Such a beautiful sunset. The winter skies can be incredible don't you think? So moody and changeable compared to the more uniform summer blue/white. I love the way the clouds travel at different rates depending on which layer they're in. Some skim along whilst others seem to expand more than move as such. Meandering thoughts today. Warmest hugs from here. xx Jos

  2. Oh my, now that's an amazing sky!!! You should make it your header.

I'm so glad you're having good weather. It rained here yesterday and now everything is slippery ice! I'm heading out now to "ice skate" to the bird feeders :P
Even Emma slipped and slid on her potty break!

    Talk to you later LS.

  4. Oh such a beautiful sunset. Its been lovely up here in Oregon too. Weather's been balmy actually. I am sure hoping we dont get socked with a surprise freeze and ruin all the trees trying to bud now because its been so unually warm. Thanks for sharing those sunsets.

  5. Jos, so lovely to have you come and visit!
I know (for some odd reason) my Blog just doesn't appear on everyone's blogroll....so I feel especially honoured when people remember me.

Yes, the clouds and skies are always so unpredictible.... this brief and intense warm spell is highly unusual here.... normally it's 45-50 degrees and raining!

One thing my almost-a-year of blogging has taught me is to keep me camera at the ready!

It was wonderful to meander along with you!

  8. Cris, I guessed that we both are sharing some of the same weather. I, too, worry, that the rain and fog will return.... all the Cherry Blossom trees are now fully in bloom......

I guess we will have to wait and see - and hope that perhaps we will have a "real" Spring and not months of cold and grey like last year!

    Love,

i'm so so happy for your weather. i am finally tired of the snow. i think lo's treasury on sprouts is at fault. :)

and, i too now have my camera nearby most of the time. it has added so much to my life and to what and how and when and where i see. i know this is true for you too.

  12. Ooooooh..KJ, I never heard about the dangers of "Pink Skies" before.... always thought it was God painting his heavenly canvas..... (but I am fearfully ignorant about such things)!
