"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."
Hmm....somehow, I feel *robbed*......we, in SF, have had NO SUMMER! None! And, the other day, when the Sun shone weakly - for a few hours....somehow, Autumn was waving her wand....and was sending subtle messages that she was *just around the corner*.... come along for a walk with me...
The Seasons are beginning to change... my FAVOURITE time of the year is coming....
I have heard of such non-summers here in Eugene, but have never witnessed one in my 24 years in the area. I've seen some that were seriously delayed though. Your photos are lovely.
Hi Snow! You are lucky not to have experienced one of our *Mark Twain-like* Summers! This one had been the worst ever... however, we just had three complete days of Sun...I was hoping for more...but, alas, the Fog has returned! Oh well, I will be ensconced in the Opera House for most of the day! A-ha-ha!
Hi Teri!!! Thank you for the photo compliment! It was a good day at the Lake...all the colours seemed to *shimmer* and Mr. Squirrel was just such a little *poser*!!! (And a little *Piglet* as he continued to gorge on peanuts!
Oh no.....I am truly sorry you have been *Summer-deprived* too!!! I hope you may get a *delayed one*. I understand your feelings about Autumn....a beautiful - but somewhat melancholic time...as leaves fall, flowers fade.... I guess I have always been moved by this...and the last glorious riot of colours that come, warm my soul.
We have had a strange summer. but at least it hasn't been cold like San Fran. I hope you get some nice weather before the rains come. Great photos. Sorry to be late but have been so busy with Company.
Cris....I know how busy you have been.... thank you for stopping by!
Yes, it's been a *Bummer* of a Summer! A-ha-ha! But all of your great pictures and posts have made me experience some of yours and all my Blogging Family's!!!
Oh Robin , here we haven't had a real summer either........... Just a few nice days and a hot week when I had my tennis tournament. the day before yesterday I felt summer was really over...... I felt it in the air it was windy cold and we had such hard wind later that everything got covered with branches...... :( and leaves. Today we cleared away those leaves. The sun is out and it is warm but still I feel summer is over...... I have difficulty with this. Autumn is my less favorite season............. Well I will try to make the best of it. Today a busy day. Six people will come for dinner. but now I will take a nap before I will do all the last preparations. Hope we will connect next week. I have to read your last opera post but I am behind....... I still have to visit everyone but right now I did 3 of my beloved friends Enjoy the opera season and autumn dear! ♥M
I have been watching SF summer and noticed it's more like what we get in Seattle :( Not to rub it in, but we have had the best August in years - makes up for the 9 months of cloudy rain. Sending sun!
A lover of all of life's beauties - music, poetry, nature, animals, the ever-changing moon, the smell of jasmine at twilight. Thunder and lightning in the Summertime. The smell of Pinon after the rain. Running through crisp, multi-coloured Autumn leaves with my favourite Chocolate Lab, Walking in the first snowfall of Winter and tasting snow on my tongue. Believing in the power of love - no matter what...
