My Dates for the Willow Ball

Oooh....I am a lucky girl.....all three men who I invited to be my dates - accepted!  And, I am thrilled to be sharing a fourth man, John Fowles, with my dear friend, Amanda.

Here are "my guys"...

Franz Lizst......oh-so-famous, oh-so-talented, oh-so-handsome Hungarian pianist and composer.  He has agreed to play a few selections on the piano for us....Willow, please make sure my "Franzchen" has a beautiful sterling silver
candelabra with some Lilac-coloured candles (my favourite) atop the piano....
I had planned to hire a driver for us....but Franz, (ach Du, mein Leiber Mann), has insisted on driving us in the Bentley. What's a girl to do...but agree!

Konig Ludwig II von Bavaria...... not only handsome and rich, but a lover of Opera....and especially Wagner Operas.  He was solely responsible for the building of the Bayreuth Festspiel Haus. He loved taking sleigh rides on snowy moonlit evenings in the Bavarian Alps... and....a lover (like me) of Swans!
Last, but most certainly not least, Anthony Minghella.  Famed director of "The English Patient", "Cold Mountain", "The Talented Mr. Ripley" and "Truly, Madly, Deeply" (to name a few).  He also directed a stunningly beautiful production of "Madama Butterfly" at the Metropolitan Opera.  Charasmatic, humorous,
intelligent...

Oh....well, there is one more lovely man....who has promised to dance a tango (or two) with me and also partake of some champagne and (perhaps) some pate....John Fowles - noted English Author - and lover of Fate and all things mysterious....he wrote (among others)..."The French Lieutentant's Woman", "Magus", "Daniel Martin", "The Ebony Tower"....  John, being the lover of women that he is.....also agreed to take the lovely Amanda....so we are going to "share" him....  Amanda, when I am dancing with John, I know any of my other fellows will be thrilled to dance with you!
I guess I seem like a "wild child" with four men....but now that I am newly-single....  I need to live a little and PARTY!

Only six more days....

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

  1. oh my what a selection of beau's you will arrive with. I am sure with such talent and variety you will not be bored. I guess Konig Ludwig will be a taste of royalty at the ball. Bet he's a good dancer too. Can't wait to hear Franz play. Magical I am sure. Oh I'm all a'twitter. It's almost stimulation overwhelm and it hasnt even begun yet!

  3. darn you, blogger!

robin, forgive me but i think two of these men are not sufficiently attractive and i'm concerned that one may be too scratchy for you.

i know this sounds very superficial, especially since you have chosen intelligent, worldly men. i hope you have the time of your life. but....

i think you might be practicing your dance moves in the living room of a # 9. mary chapin carpenter at the twist and shout.

not rocket science, but definitely jelly bean worthy

    love love

  4. Very erudite and worthy men to take to the ball - I think you ought to add a hunk in there just to make sure you will get swept off your Manolo clad feet.

  6. Suki, I'm glad you approve of my Gentlemen!
Actually, I believe they all can dance well...although Franz and Ludwig are the best Waltz partners... and, of course, it's always fun to have a "Royal" at a ball! Franz is rehearsing now.....he will pull out all the steps when he performs on the 30th!

This is so exciting, isn't it?

  11. Invite me, and you'll have five!

"I guess I seem like a "wild child" with four men....but now that I am newly-single.... I need to live a little and PARTY!"

I'm relieved to hear this as I had feared you might be considering monastic life, and I would have missed you dreadfully.

  12. Robin! What an amazing group of men. :) I think you will have a fabulous time with all of them, and I do hope you take lots of notes and tell us about the conversations you have. ;) I think kj is hoping you will invite Johnny Depp as well. Why not? :) xox!

  13. Snow, I WOULD have invited you at once, but I didn't think you would accept......so yes, please join our now-crowded Bentley....but after all, isn't that what parties are all about?

I love that you make me laugh! I KNOW I am an "Operatic" sort of girl....but....monastic life is NOT for me! See you on the 30th.....

    Hugs,

    ♥ Robin ♥

As for my poor little blog not updating on people's sidebars.....ONLY LOLO has figured it out..... it is a mystery to me!

I will raise my champagne glass to you at the Ball!

    Love to all,

  25. Robin, you lucky girl. But honestly, how do you do it? I am having enough trouble sashaying between Leonard and Joseph!

    Oh! What a ball!

  26. So nice to cross paths earlier this evening ... you are as lovely as ever! I am having a hard time managing one escort ~ how are you managing multiples? Cheers!

  27. How marvelous of you to bring John Fowles...I may be his number one fan!

  28. Hello Robin,

Just had to call in and congratulate a fellow door prize winner! Your escorts were all positively charming; Franz simply sparkles on the keyboard; I've visited his apartment in Budapest, by the way! His Majesty adds a certain style to such an evening and Anthony, well, everything is a cinematic experience! John is perhaps a little too cerebral for me but I'm sure the failings are all mine! Now I'm off to see these hummingbirds!
