"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."

A Sunny November Afternoon

Yesterday was warm, the sun was shining......my body *told* me get up, get out..enjoy this weather - because soon....the Winter Rains will arrive.  So....I listened and obeyed.  I walked along to Baker Beach ....the last time I was there, it was foggy and cool.  If you look very closely, you will see (between the buoy and the shore) a faint figure on the horizon....  a large ship sailing enroute to the Bay.

Closer...

 Almost there...

 Voila!  Welcome to San Francisco!

It seems 3:00 p.m. is the *Golden Gate Waters Rush Hour* - because as I turned away from the Bridge, what did I see in the far distance...
Another tanker!  Busy waters!
I was caught up in the hypnotic spell of the waves, crashing gently on the shore.....lost in daydreams, I found that an hour had elapsed!
Walking back through the Northernmost part of the Presidio, I came across some downed trees.....

And this sprinkling of silvery pine cones...

The arc of pine cones.....totally natural... the hanging branch, yet to completely fall...   can't you imagine Red Riding Hood, dashing home to her Grandmothers?

It is a 2 hour hike (with no daydreaming) from my house to Baker Beach and back.....but of course, I was gone much longer and the sun was beginning to set.....I caught the last golden glow on this very red-orange Poppy.

And the last glowing rays, bidding this branch *Sweet Dreams*.

It was a good day....  being amid Nature helps..... I think of many wonderful friends, all across the World...and I send each of you my love, courage and strength.

Love, always,

♥ Robin ♥

  3. Wow.. such a beautiful walk. Seeing the tankers coming in reminds me of some photos I took a few years ago in Huntington Beach when there was a dockers strike..I think it was a dockers strike..it was a strike, I remember that much.. and ships were lined up for miles waiting to get in and unload. It was foggy and the picture was rather erie seeing one ship after another sitting out there for days. Your photos always get me to remembering something. :))

  6. Ah, dear Snow.... we DO, indeed, have many, many, MANY Storms *down South*... what you have on a Monday, we get on a Tuesday! I am grateful I live atop a hill....so a lot of the rain flows by in a mini-flash-flood sort of way! A-ha-ha!

Big hugs to you, dear friend!!!

  8. KJ.... you are too adorable! I have a particular love for all things "Red Riding Hood"...that's why when our Lo painted her version...I begged, pleaded to own it....it's being (finally) framed as I write this....and will post about it soon. Of course, I should also feel akin to *Robin of Sherwood*...a-ha-ha! And....I do!!!

    MUWAH!

  16. Ah, my old hunting grounds. Many many years ago, you probably weren't born yet, I took a trip to Hawaii aboard the SS Lurline, it was one the Matson line most lovely ship. It departed from San Francisco and the feeling of crossing under the Golden Gate was unforgettable. My first apt in San Francisco in 1965 was 999 Green Street, on the 23rd Floor. Then I bought a house in Orinda, and then to Hawaii for 3 years, and then...

KJ said she will bring you next year when she comes to visit. So I guess we will have to wait until then to see you? I hope not. Much love and I do miss you too.

  19. Dearest Allegra....... every time I find that you have visited.... I feel like you have hugged me! I adore hearing about the wonderful, adventerous life you have lived.
It's more fascinating than any novel....although I often think someone should write about you!

KJ hasn't yet told me of her plans.... but it would be fun to meet you next year. I am still hoping for an earlier visit.... we'll keep in touch and see how things are early in 2012, ok?

All My Love to you, B. Loved and the Fur Balls!

Glad you had sunny weather and a nice hike.
Yes that bridge stay like magic to me.
We saw it together from theother side and also saw the tanker ships sail in.
Those opine cones would be nice in your home for X mas
Amazing how they formed that arch, nearly unreal.
Hope you are doing ok. Had a long day just painting.... Now I will go to bed early.

    Love!
