I Capuletti e I Montecchi and Moby Dick



I've *surfaced*....to use a *seafaring* pun!  But I wanted to show you some of the latest backstage *thingies*!  First, for *I Capuletti e I Montecchi * some of the lovely (and brave) Supers wearing gowns designed by Christian Lacroix. He also designed their 6" shoes... sorry, no photo of the shoes yet....yesterday's Piano Dress was a crazed and hurried affair....  the shoes (and they are really something) will be photographed next week!  The flower in the mouth represents the fact the women has no say in the 14th Century!

Now, on to *Moby Dick*....I have only been to two rehearsals so far....no sets, no costumes....but, OMG....the music, the singing...this is going to be THE HIT of the season!


These cartoons were placed on the backstage bulletin board - and I had to share!  Tasteless, but funny!


I hope you all have a great weekend!  Tomorrow, I will be at the first rehearsal for "Lohengrin"....a most beloved opera of mine!

    I love those costumes and would love to wear one for a day and prance around London in it. BUT I don't have the youth or the boobies! Ha ha. Sending you lots of warm Autumnal colours and sunshine today dear heart. xxx

      Jossie... I CAN see you wearing one of these gowns at a party! (But not the 6" shoes!!!) You DO have the Youth - you are eternally young! As for the *Boobies*, these days, there are undergarments that can achieve *instant cleavage*! A-ha-ha!

    i agree the costumes are glorious. nothing like a rose in the mouth to keep a woman silent, LOL.

      Suki....gosh, have I missed your dry humour here...I actually thought of you when I learned why the ladies had those flowers in their mouths! (At the end of the Act - they all spit them out with great disdain!)

      Opera IS all about LIFE - on a gigantic scale... I guess I love it so because I am such an emotional woman!

      Deb... so happy you discovered my Avatar! She has been there since January...I change her monthly...
      I learned how to do this from a dear friend in Australia who died last December...sort of a tribute to a remarkable woman.

    Those costumes are wonderful! I love corsets and boustierres. I know I spelled it wrong ;)

    christian lacroix costumes? wow - the sfo has one hell of a budget!! that will be an amazing production to see (and of course hear :)
