"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."
Cris...amazingly, at North Lake, there are TWO families of Raccoons who live there.... I was thrilled to be photographing Ducks...when suddenly, I saw a *Masked Marauder* peering at me across the lake...he immediately started across on a *Coon-Made* Bridge (see the last photo) - followed by nine more! They were thrilled to partake of bread and cheerios....and weren't interested in the Ducks! Thank you for your good wishes about the job! Love, ♥ Robin ♥
good luck with the job. its your second year so maybe it will be easier to acclimate to. Someone else posted abt seeing a racoon in her yard and i didnt say but wondered if it could be rabid? Not that this one is of course but we have had rabid coons both on the Cape and up here.
Suki...yes, the second year with this company IS easier...but the night hours (especially in that neighbourhood) are still creepy.....still, I will manage.
These *Coonies* are all healthy and happy... believe me, I know what to look for regarding rabid animals.
I swear the California raccoons are the most brazen!! I always thought of them as sick or rabid if seen in daylight, but these guys are just opportunists!!
I watched a stellar jay (as in your photo) steal nuts from a squirrel. The squirrel was running all around burying nuts, and the jay was watching from a tree. Every time the squirrel turned its back, the jay would fly down and take as many of the nuts as the squirrel had just buried.
Congratulations! You are one of the winners of the Valentine Etegami Give-Away. Please email your postal address to me at dosankodebbie (at) yahoo (dot) co (dot) jp and let me know which of the posted cards you have a particular preference for (but no promises, sorry). Thank you for participating!
A lover of all of life's beauties - music, poetry, nature, animals, the ever-changing moon, the smell of jasmine at twilight. Thunder and lightning in the Summertime. The smell of Pinon after the rain. Running through crisp, multi-coloured Autumn leaves with my favourite Chocolate Lab, Walking in the first snowfall of Winter and tasting snow on my tongue. Believing in the power of love - no matter what...
well they are lovely pics and you're working so it's a good day for sure
ReplyDeleteIt's a good feeling to be receiving a paycheck again! ♥♥
DeleteWhat great photos. But how do you get to see Racoons in the day time? I thought they slept in the day time. Happy for you on getting the job. :))
