"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."

Animal Wednesday for the Merry Month of May

I witnessed a wonderful thing at the Palace of Fine Arts!  No, the Cygnets are not born - yet.....but, when I arrived there, Blanche (the Momma-to-be) was in the lake having a bath...and Blue Boy (the Poppa-to-be) was actually sitting on the nest, keeping the eggs warm!

Blue Boy sitting on the nest

Blanche coming ashore after her bath - and doing some Swan-Yoga!

Enroute to Blue Boy and the nest...  (the *Keep Out* signs have been put up for the Swans protection).

A little greeting!

Changing places....  look carefully and you can see a few of the eggs!  There are still five - so I have hopes the Cygnets will be born!

Blue Boy decided to add some plants to the nest - I loved that he has a flower in his mouth... an *offering* to his lady!

Blanche is back on the nest and Blue Boy is preparing to stand guard!

I did also come across some Ducklings!

I love how the one has veered away from his Siblings and is swimming towards me!

It was warm for SF - almost 70 - and these Ducks decided to nap in the shade!

Look at this *Beast*!  A Snout-nosed Turtle!  The largest I have ever seen!  This fellow is HUGE!

Falling Plum Blossoms.....  so lovely...

Happy Animal Wednesday!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

  1. Oh Robin, what an exciting Spring you have had! It never ceases to amaze me that there is so much wild life within the city!!! You remind me of my love of nature and get me out of my sometimes consuming thoughts. **blows kisses** Deb

    1. Deb.... oh believe me, I know about those *consuming thoughts*.... being around Nature has helped me so much....

I am lucky there are so many parks in SF....they provide a shelter to so many *Critters*.. but I think Nature is *out there* wherever one lives....you just have to open your eyes, ears..and heart.

It HAS (already) been a wonderful Spring.... I can't wait until the Cygnets are born...so I can share their photos with you.

You, dear *fellow Blonde*, have a heart and soul as big as the Grand Canyon...I am so happy we have *met* and become friends!

Blow Kisses right back to you

      Love,

    1. Mim....so happy you came to visit....because, when I took the photo of *Mr. GIGANTIC Snout-Nosed Turtle*....I was thinking of you. Not too many of us love these guys...and it was a genuine surprise when I saw him! I have visited the Palace of Fine Arts Lake many times....and never encountered his enormous self!

He should become a *Character* in the *Water Lily Girls* world!

      Love, always,

      ♥ Robin ♥
