One More Opera Post....for Mim and Her Mum

I lied! I said I wouldn't be doing any more posts about Opera this Summer.....but, the wonderful, witty Mim
http://ammdh.blogspot.com/ just posted about her Mother - who was, in fact, a professional Opera singer. Mim included a photo of her Mum in the role of Marguerite - the tragic heroine of Gounoud's Opera - "Faust". I won't explain the plot - as Mim's Mum did quite a good job of it on her post. But, as we are doing "Faust" here this Summer, I thought I should show a few photos...

Pictured above are Patricia Racette (as Marguerite) and Stefano Secco (as Faust). In order to have "youth" and "love". Faust sells his soul to ..... the Devil.

After many trials and succumbing to temptation...

Maguerite, is "saved" and ascends the "stairway to Heaven".... without Faust... who must pay the Devil with his soul...

And....not to end on such a serious note, here are a few photos of some of the "Supers" in this production.

THE END!

Hope you enjoyed this Mim.... it really is my last Summer Opera Post!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

  2. I just loved Mim's post, wow a mom who sang opera. And I love these pictures too, in more proper costumes LOL than the other guys. I echo Annie, we all love these posts. It's like being backstage during the performance.

  4. I shall look forward to the resumption of your opera posts when the autumn season starts then Robin. Really wonderful photos. My mother is totally staggered that I want to borrow some of her Wagner collection! I did promise to give it a go though and I must admit that I am looking forward to it. xx Jos

  5. Robin, you've made me look at opera through your eyes and have opened the world I've been so resistant to! You can do opera posts daily and it would be welcomed!
I also loved Mim's post! Wow, what a perspective from a four year old's point of view.
Wonderful shots of the starts...love the "end" shot!

Are you considering an October visit for real? I would squeal with delight!
