"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."

Butterflies

Yet another cold and gloomy week here.....I can actually say that we had three hours of sunshine last Thursday and about 2 on Friday..... my ear is still not working....life could be so much warmer - in every way. BUT, I can still send out love and hope and beauty to all of you.

Looking at these gorgeous butterflies reminds me of a happy time in my life with "C". One day, he took me to the Natural History Museum in NY..... he wouldn't tell me what exhibit he was so eager to show me.... we walked in, climbed some stairs, turned the corner and entered in a large, protected chamber FULL of different coloured butterflies and moths..... it was so lovely, so magical.... we walked about and the buterflies would land on us for a few minutes and "ride" about on us.... an afternoon I will never forget.

May this be a particularly wonderful "HAW" for all of you. Please keep me in your prayers, I am going through a really rough patch.

Love.

  1. When you come to visit we will go to our own butterfly world here, at the Portland Zoo. It is magical and there is a feeling of stepping into a promised world of beauty, filled with color and the sweet music of a thousand wings fluttering about.

I hope you get some sunshine. Here the days are starting really gloomy, but around late afternoon the sun comes up and so I go into the garden late and stay late. I didn't get back in until 9:00 PM last night, after planting some things to replace the ones decimated by the slugs...sigh.

I send you warm hugs to keep you from noticing the fog and the gray. We used to say that the price to pay for living in San Francisco and eating at the Fleur De Lys and drinking at Trader Vic's ( I used to order the Scorpion not because I like it but because it came with a fresh gardenia on top, just think about that!) was to put up with the gray and the fog when they rolled in.

    Love and hugs from here.

  2. robin,

we've got a fierce thunderstorm raging through our area right now and with all this great energy spinning around i am sending up a prayer in its midst which i hope finds its way to you.

  3. i had to laugh at your lovely romantic description of the butterfly sanctuary because there is one near me here and when i walked in i was a jittery mess! they landed on my head! i calmed down long enough to love the wonder of it but i was comical and pathetic for a time.

i'm glad to see this post. i wondered where you've been. the sisterhood watches over its own....

damn that weather, robin. i'm angry at it on your behalf. enough already.

    thinking of you, with love

  5. I remember one particular summer in Pacific Grove wher my garden was a sopping, gooey mess from so much fog! I was quite depressed~angry at times too for the relentlessness of it all.

And now my frustration is turned toward this humidity!! I'm really not holding up well in this oppressive heat, but I have to tell you as long as I see the sun I'm okay. I just keep lots of fans turned my way.

I'm sorry your life is grey in so many areas.
You deserve a million rays of sunshine because your heart puts out that many, and more.♥

My company is staying on the cape tonight. You may just get a phonecall ;)

Now I'm off to enjoy the butterflies.

    love you~

  10. Allegra, hmmmm...I think I would order a "Scorpian" because - I adore Gardenias and....my astrological sign is: Scorpio!
It STILL is foggy here..... sigh....one would think I would be adapting to this permanent state of cold and gloom....but I am not!

I miss you....a lot.... and send you warm, warm hugs and much love.

  12. "KJB", you made me laugh.....I can just see your alarm at a Butterfly landing on you....

I was thrilled to experience this with "C" in NY...actually we had an encore performance at the Bronx Zoo...but it was outdoors, much larger, and not nearly as magical or romantic...

    Love you, Love you,
