"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."
I love love love Paul's singing & this song especially. We have many of these black birds here we feed every winter. We even have a few red winged ones. I love hearing them up in the trees. Lovely post!
I was so totally into the top bird's song and had to crack up when that man blew his nose!!! I don't think we have those blackbirds here. I loved his song.
And "Blackbird" is one of my all time favorite Beatles songs. I used to have it on my blog when I matched songs with my art.
I adore Red Winged BB's too. Emma has a stuffed one from Audubon and when she chews it it calls just like that! haha!
robin - this is so eerie.......right before i read this post my husband was telling me that all those birds killed in arkansas were redwing blackbirds....my favorite bird!! he said that high level hail was what did them in.....
but on a happier note, i completely enjoyed the full-throated cry of the redwing blackbird in that video.....brings back memories of my childhood in minnesota where i often heard that sound in the marshes~
Dear *M*, We don't have those little red-winged blackbirds in SF either..... strangely, they do inhabit the Peninsula - about 20 miles South of us.... I just adore them though!
Hi Cris.... the blackbirds were on my mind after the tragedy down South - and suddenly, I remembered Paul's song..... perfect! (You know how I like to do little themed-posts!)
I am thrilled you take care of these gorgeous and melodic birds during Winter! They are so lovely!
I am glad you liked the post. (I giggled when the man sneezed too!) Love all blackbirds.... something about those glossy feathers and what sweet songs they all have! Paul's song is pretty sweet too!
Hi Robin, Doesn't understand it at all..... Gave a comment last thursday and its gone ((;on your facebook I placed a pic of B. to cheer you up after Tuesday(interview) tried to place it two times doesn't work either... So hope this one finally come through, xxxxx from your Mr.B and Me
A lover of all of life's beauties - music, poetry, nature, animals, the ever-changing moon, the smell of jasmine at twilight. Thunder and lightning in the Summertime. The smell of Pinon after the rain. Running through crisp, multi-coloured Autumn leaves with my favourite Chocolate Lab, Walking in the first snowfall of Winter and tasting snow on my tongue. Believing in the power of love - no matter what...
I enjoyed all 3!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat last bird is amazing since we don't have them here.....
Happy Animal Wednesday!
Hugs from Sjimmie♥
