"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."

A Walk in the Sun

No Sun for days......the *Mini-Winter* held those of us who live in San Francisco *prisoner*.  Today, though, the Sun arrived!  Of course, I dashed out, camera in hand, to hike and *breathe* the Sun, take some photos - and share with you!  So, come along...

Sun sparkling on a small waterfall at Lucas Studios.  (Yes, that's George Lucas of *Star Wars* and *American Graffitti*!)  He built a multi-complex area in what use to be Letterman Veterans Hospital in the Presidio. It's lovely, inviting and open to everyone - not just employees. After hiking though it, I am just a block away from the Palace of Fine Arts and.....*My Swans*.
I immediately began looking for the parents and the six Cygnets.....

One Grey Cygnet
One Grey, one White....look at those relaxed feet!

Okay...everyone is here!

The Swan Flotilla!

A Blue Heron in repose.....  he thought he was *hidden away*....but I found him!  A-ha-ha!

Concentrating on finding .....LUNCH!

Back at Lucas Studios......I fell in love with these lovelies....

I know, I know, I should have saved this for Animal Wednesday.....but, I couldn't wait....I had to share!

It's amazing what a little sunshine can do to bring a smile to ones face!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

  2. It is strange how serene swans look from above the water line. It is quite amazing to see how efficiently their feet and legs propell them though when looking up from below. They have quite some oomph haven't they? How long does it take cignets to turn white do you think? I saw some yesterday and size-wise they were as big as their parents .... bit like those enormous teens that tower over their moms and dads these days I guess hahaha.

Glad you are seeing some sunshine Robin. Enjoy! Big hug xx Jos

    1. Jos...you are right! I wish I could have taken a few photos under the water...as Swans are powerful swimmers

I think most Cygnets take up to a full year to ruen completely white.... as you can see, one of the six is totally grey.....in time though, the white will begin to show through.

      Love and.....Strength,
