We brought some peanuts with us - just in case! It's a good thing we did! |
I was thrilled to encounter more Stellar Jays here! (Of course, they loved the peanuts just as much as the *Stow Lake Gang*!)
"Hmmmm...what do you have for me?" |
"I think I'd better come closer and check it out!" |
"Oh, yummy!" |
"I'm coming back for seconds!" |
Does anyone know what this little fellow is chomping on?
At another, nearby Lake , I was surprised to find a Snout-Nosed Turtle...
I think someone once had him as a pet - and when he grew too large, they brought him here. He seems to be doing ok...there are lots of thingies for him to eat.
And....another Bird (a Cormorant) doing his *Dracula* Impersonation!
(The Seagulls seem to be ignoring him....a-ha-ha!)
Tonight, I am off to the Opening Night of *Moby Dick*! The White Whale Opera - perfect for an Animal Wednesday!
Love,
♥ Robin ♥
I've got them all and many more right outside my door here in downtown Eugene. Well, not quite all. I don't have turtles, stellar jays, or Cormorants, but there are kingfishers, great blue herons, green herons, red-winged blackbirds, and lots of ducks and seagulls. There are also nutria, Chickarees (which is one name for the squirrel in your photo), way too many raccoons, and one some lucky occasions a river otter or two in the drainage canal.
ReplyDeletejust love the pics of the squirrels and jay with the peanuts. amazing the wild life you find in the city.
ReplyDeleteThat squirrel looks like he has walnuts. they are encased in a green thing like that. Look inside it. we have them around here too. in fact we have all that around here except for the Turtle. But Raccoon's usually aren't out in the day time. lots of great shots. HAW
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! I bet you will go there more often from now. Probably the turtle is better off there than in poor conditions at a home.....
ReplyDeleteGood to have peanuts with you they weigh not that much and they make a lot of animals happy!!!!
Hope you had a wonderful night at the opera dear
