Friday - the 13th!

Most of you know I have been hampered by a knee injury since early December... I have been blessed with good health for most of my life....so this has been huge to me!    I no longer own a car....so must do all the basic errands of LIFE: market, drugstore...even collecting my mail...down 30 steps, down or up a hill (depending on where I am going)..then back up those 30 steps!  I am healing...but it's a long, arduous process....and I am a girl who LIVES for the outdoors....who needs to be among Nature EVERY day...

I digress...

Today, thanks to a new friend (who is a neighbour), we drove out to Land's End.....  clear, beautiful weather....and we walked for two hours...(probably not too wise...but I needed to be OUT)...and, for once, I put on my knee supporter....which did help!  So....come along with me...

*The Offending Knee*....with *chic black support*!  Oui, Oui!

A-ha-ha!  Of course, this is where we should be hiking!  (Lo, does this remind you of our Cliff Walk?)

The beach, faaarrrr away (where the whitecaps are) is where I often walk - it's Baker Beach!

Looking down the cliff at the surging ocean!

Out to sea....  can you see the different striations in the water?  I wonder what that is all about as it's quite deep out there!

We finally called it *quits* when my knee began to twinge a bit.  Home now, enjoying a glass of Shiraz...and about to plunge into a hot, bubble bath.  It was a beautiful and uplifting day!  A great Friday the 13th!  I hope your day was too!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

  1. Oh! Baker Beach~~I remember that!
The photos are beautiful and honey, that knee supporter is sooooo much better looking than my contortion stockings! LOL!
Glad you were able to get out; more than a bit envious of that lovely weather as I sit here awaiting a whole whopping NINE DEGREES tonight.... <:-\
    Take good care FBBBFF!

  2. Well, first, you and my DH would get along great...he wears a similar knee brace, but it is an old war wound.
Second, beautiful beauitful scenery. I also have to be out in nature everyday.
Thirdly, I forgot it as Friday the 13th.

And, I am also so happy we met!!! Every time I See a comment from you I think of Sunshine. Well,I think of her everyday. I have almost convinced myself to get another cockatiel. Life was so much more fun when she was here.

    1. That's what I thought too that you had to get a new cockatiel. Not that it would ever replace Sunshine but it would bring some happiness into your life.
Please do teri. I know one can make a young one tame and even learn them to talk.
I think it will be good for you and your husband.

  4. Robin, I couldn't remember the details of your knee injury, and I'm not finding them. Are you on a NSAID, seen an orthopedist, had a steroid shot, been elevating your leg whenever possible (preferably above your heart, been using ice and/or heat, seen a physical therapist, gotten a diagnosis and a prognosis? I'm worried about you.

  5. Wow. nothing like a good excuse to show a bit of leg, eh?

Most glad you are wearing your support bandage.

I love Cliff Walk. Isnt that down near the Sutro Baths? Thanks for the dramatic photos.

Glad too you have a new friend who drives!!! And lives nearby. Hurrah.

take care of you, love Suki

  6. Dear *FBBBFF*,
You KNOW you were in my thoughts when I did that "mini-hike" yesterday. One day, we will hike together! Today is our last warm day....cold weather a-comin....but no rain until Wednesday. I am going up to Santa Rosa tomorrow to visit Joyce and Mimi for a few days. (Taking my knee bandage with me....it does seem to help!) I will be thinking of you... Love, ♥ Robin ♥

  7. Teri... you know, I have wanted to suggest that you buy another Cockatiel... there will only be ONE Sunshine....but, you would find joy in raising and bonding with another beautiful feathery friend. Tell your DH I commiserate with him over our knee injuries. He is much wiser than I am....I have avoided wearing that knee bandage for over a month....once I put it on, my knee felt so much better! Love, ♥ Robin ♥

  8. Hi Snow! (aka *Brewsky's Dad*)! Thank you for your concern...actually, I haven't done much medically to help my knee. As I have been unemployed for nearly three years - I don't have any medical insurance...so, I have only done the hot/cold routine - plus some Advil from time-to-time. It is slowly improving...and as with all tendon/ligament injuries - it takes a long time to heal. It's doubly hard for me - as I don't have a car - and have to walk everywhere to run errands...plus, you know me...I LIVE to be outdoors, walking amid Nature...so I miss those long three/four hour hikes I once (gosh was it only last November) took. But....I live in hope! Big hugs to you, my friend - and thank you for caring! Hugs, ♥ Robin ♥

  9. Suki - your comment cracked me up! Yes....you KNOW me...show off those legs! A-ha-ha! Seriously, now that I have begun to wear the knee wrap - I wonder why I was so foolish and hesitated!

Carol, my friend (who also happens to be a neighbour) is wonderful - she loves walking ...and besides paths near or homes, she is happy to pick me up and drive somewhere further to walk...

Off to Santa Rosa tomorrow...but will check in via-e-mail with you.

    Love,

    ♥ Robin ♥

  10. Well I figured a way to be able to comment I hope. its getting harder and harder to get the comment boxes to open up to me. Take care of that knee. I tore something in mine years ago and it comes back to haunt me a lot. So let it heal. Lots of great photos. Nice to have a nice neighbor. Enjoy your visit. Cris, Artist in Oregon.

  11. Three cheers to carol and new friends with cars!

Your leg shot cracked me up! Ahahaha

I hope your travelin shoes are better and stronger . Snow is right if it doesn't heal on its own. I had a meniscus injury and put off dx and treatment for too long.

It's wicked cold in new England. Currently 3 degrees F. No putting off winter

    Take care wrobin

  12. so sorry to hear about your bum knee — you are an adventurous girl to do all that hiking around when you're hurtin'! there's nothing like a bubble bath and a glass of shiraz to take care of that pain!

have a great week dear robin♡
