Animal Wednesday - Gulls, Gulls, Gulls

A few months back, some of our "Animal Wednesday" people toyed with the idea of doing a "themed" HAW Post.  I just happened to see Mim's latest - on Seagulls, so I thought I would join in.

So here we have 'screaming' gulls, 'laughing gulls' (aka the "Black Masked Maruaders"), 'pensive' gulls, 'cleansing' gulls.....and also a few Pelicans, drifting like battleships on the water.

And.... I had to add "Agent 007 3/4" - the "Bond Gull"!  A-ha-ha!

HAW to all!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

  1. When I visit the beaches of LA I love spying on the seagulls. Flocks of them, on the sand. Benjy loves terrifying them!

  5. I miss the seagulls of CA. They would always be in the parking lots, hoping for a handout. One day, here in MD, I came out of Target and heard a familiar cry. There was a group of seagulls in the parking lot! I guess they made a wrong turn at the bay - haha! They were having a ball, and it made me very happy to see them. xoxox!! Pam

  6. I love those black headed gulls! I've always been partial to B&W animals though. And those pellies...love them! It's amazing how bouyant sea birds are. It's effortless!

That Dorito Bandito I've seen before. Sure is a hoot! I wonder if that's where they get those red-orange spots on the bottom of their bills :)

Okay, I'll do a gull post too! Later, I'm off for my walk.

  12. Mary-Laure.....ha-ha! I CAN imagine the expression on Benjy's face as he plans his "attacks" on the Gulls!!!

  13. Mimmm.... see what YOU started here! I think doing a theme would be such fun.... perhaps after the Holidays, we can think about how to pre-select a theme and let the "team" in Europe know in advance - so we all can participate. I don't mean to do it on a regular basis...but every few months would be fun!

  14. Lisa, hello and thank you for stopping by!
Those Gulls are pretty "sneaky-clever" - on both coasts! Here in SF, at our ATT Ball Park, it is astounding that the Gulls seem to "know" when the 9 innings are winding down...and they can swoop in to finish off the remaining Garlic Fries and hot dogs.... even the broadcasters joke about it! They sit atop the stadium - and it seems they are actually watching the game! Hilarious!

  17. Lololo..... aren't those black headed gulls amazing? I just adore them! I was going to do another search and add one more video - cos' there are some incredible Gulls in Cornwall - that actually sound like they laugh!
I remember walking along the cliffs and hearing (what I thought) was someone laughing out loud..... there was no one there - but me....when all of a sudden, a gull swooped up over the cliff (rather like your painting) - and LAUGHED!!! It's an amazing cry they have....

  18. Marianne.....I knew at once "Skimmie" was "Sjimmie" - but, I did laugh at the picture in my mind of his taking down the Pink Plush Cat!!!!! That would have been a great shot!!!!!

Love to you and Konig Sjimmie!

  19. Amanda, wasn't that the funniest video? Obviously, this gull does this regularly - so the photographer was able to get him on video!
