I "know" you have all been thinking that I have not done an opera post in a few weeks..... well, the season is winding down.... we are in the midst of the last weeks of perfomances....but, before the memory of "Cyrano de Bergerac" fades away, I wanted to leave you with some more photos. Atop - it's me - "modeling" one of the "Cyrano" hats..... I really wanted to sneak away with it....(but I didn't..)
Our wonderful Director, Set AND Lighting Designer - Petrika Ionesco! He's Romanian - can't you tell? What a moustache.... He is a brilliant director - who brought his dog along to all the rehearsals! (Sadly, I didn't get a photo of the dog...
I WANT THESE BOOTS! They unfold to over-the-thigh length!
And..... here is the huge cast - for their curtain call! (Amanda, you can see Peter G in the front row!) Mon Dieu! What an Opera.....tres magnificque!Love,
♥ Robin ♥
Robin you look like you belong there for sure!!! Is Ionesco related to the famed playwrite? Are you feeling sad it is all over. During my brief stint in college theatre i always mourned when a play was over even if I wasnt acting but just doing props or stage sets. It felt like an entire world was ending. But then, another begins.
ReplyDeleteSuki, yes, absolutely! I always feel a pang or two of regret when an opera ends it's run..... the last day of the season (December 5th) will be particularly sad....no opera until rehearsals begin next May..... but......it will be "The Ring".... for a Wagner-girl like me.....it will be HEAVEN!
ReplyDelete(Still a long time to wait.....)
As for Mr. Ionesco - I don't know if he is related to the famous playwright. I think this may be a "common" surname in Romania. His English was non-existent....he spoke to Placi in French and his Asst. did most of the communicating to the others in the cast! His dog was named "Devil" in Romanian! I have a funny story about him (the dog) - will tell you the next time we talk!
Love to you and Bibs,
♥ Robin ♥
Devil Dog sounds like a wonderful AW story! and yes...I too want those boots - they are awesome!
ReplyDeleteRobin - that hat is YOU! Is it too late to steal it? lol! And the boots, and the shoes, while you're at it. ;) At least you will be dressed fabulously in jail! I can't imagine what it is like to be so close to such wonderful music. It seems magical to me, and so life-affirming.
