"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."

Earth Day - "Bouquets to Art"

My second "Home Away from Home" is the de Young Museum. (First "HAFH" is SF Opera.)

I was working there today, Earth Day - and in a very San Francisco way, we celebrated the day and Spring with the 25th annual "Bouquets to Art" Festival. One hundred sixty one artists created floral art that represented their individual "take" on an actual painting or sculpture that hangs in the de Young. The festival lasts for a week. (It's hard to keep "living art" blooming and fresh for much longer.) It draws over 70,000 patrons. Sorry I could not photograph all 161 pieces - but here are three of my favourites. I hope you enjoy them and also hope YOUR Earth Day was a lovely one.

  4. Hi All,
I am so glad you liked my photos.... it really is an amazing event.... some of the floral creations were HUGE and varied in their use of colour and shape.

As for Blogging - well, after the year I had in 2009 - losing both my life long love AND my job, I was really struggling.... I "met" Renee and KJ through Annie - and they kept encouraging me to blog.... I have met so many incredibly wonderful and talented people - YOURSELVES at the top of my list..... you have all helpd me to begin re-connecting with the World - and with myself.

    Love,
