"This is the violet hour, the hour of hush and wonder, when the affectations glow and valor is reborn, when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest and we believe that, if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."

Between Storms

It's been a wet and wild few days on the West Coast!  Storm after Storm....
It was cozy to have my candles on, watching a movie or reading (I finished *Moby Dick* - all 566 pages!), but after a while, this girl craves the outside....and Nature.

I was so happy when the rain stopped for a few hours, I threw on my running shoes, a hat, grabbed my camera and set off to see how things were outside - and to smell the gorgeous fresh air that one gets after a big rain.

Autumn is slowly fading away...

The Swans seem to have made it though the first two storms in good shape.....

Mama Blanche and the two*Girls*...where's Papa Blue Boy?

Here he is in all his glory!

I came across this funny sight - a Coot, completely engrossed in nibbling on this plant!  He never even noticed I was there!

This Comorant looks like he is posing for his *Cover Shot*...but, he is drying his wings while he can....it must have been rough out on the Pacific!

I was amazed to find one lone Turtle *pretending* he was sunning himself!

As I walked around the lake, I heard a shrill cry....not like that of a typical Hawk.....I looked up and up, trying to find him.....and..VOILA - here he is!
Can't see him?

Ok....here he is!  (This must be a favourite roosting spot for Pigeons too!)

The *Photographer*, herself...  sans makeup....

And....a blossoming, *diamond-water dotted* plant in her favourite colour.

I made it back up the Lyon Street Steps and home - just in time.....  the rain is here.....it's going to be another wild night!  But, I feel re-energised from my few hours outdoors.  Tomorrow....the final *Tosca* - the end of our 2012 Season!

Love,

♥ Robin ♥

  1. You get the best bird pix. You have a great zoom on your camera. Cute pix of you. Who took it? We got outside for a bit today too. It's not been as bad here as there but still pretty wet. Always feels good to get outside even for a little while. :)

    1. Cris, I adore my little Canon Power Shot 150..it's small, light and really does take great photos!

Regarding my photo - a sweet story... I was engrossed in snapping the photo of the Comorant - when a woman stopped and asked if she could take my picture because she liked the colours of the scene...then, she took one with my camera too... it was a treat...even without makeup...

We are being deluged with HEAVY RAIN and 50 mph winds this morning as I write this...off to work the final opera of 2012.... hope the wind doesn't pick me up and blow me to Berkeley! A-ha-ha!

    1. Marianne, such a sweet Zus to me!

Made it to the Opera and back.....without rain! A fun, poignant last day....lots of food, lots of hugs - and of course, a magnificent final *Tosca* - everyone really gave it their all.

Off on another hike today because tomorrow is bringing - yes - another Storm!

Cats doing ok..... they ARE my inspiration every time I feel down about the house.

      Love, love, LOVE,

    1. Jossie....you do just fine commenting - my blog is really not a hugely read one - and that's ok by me.... I do it for myself and for those few close friends who are my *family*! Besides, the two of us *talk* on FB!

But, yes.... we are holding hands now - every day through to 2013.

    1. Amanda! What a wonderful surprise to see you here! I have been remiss in visiting much...the housing situation remains in *Limbo*....all the tenants are in *watch and wait* mode. Stressful...but, I am doing my best to not think about it too much. And hey - it gave me the perfect opportunity to re-read *Moby Dick*. I read it in HS at 16.... never understood much of it...now, I adored it - although I confess seeing the Opera - 10 times - really helped bring it to light! You MUST see it! Next year, on PBS *Great Performances* - they will show *our* version! Will let you all know!

As for my *girlish* outfit - a-ha-ha! It's that magenta hat! It's grey here so much of the time, I like to have something colourful on!

      Love, always, dear Twin,
